NEW **Improvements

We now have broadband internet and BT vision at Half Moon House Holiday Cottage.

Ground Floor

The Out House is adjacent to the front door and houses fishing nets for catching fish in the many streams, rivers and tributaries around Reeth.

In the Outhouse, you will also find a washing machine for cleaning your clothes, and logs for the fire to keep you cosy at night - especially in winter.

For drying your clothes, there is are some clothes pegs which are usually left on the washing line outside in the rear garden.

You should also find a disposable barbecue, which is perfect for enjoying chargrilled food in the warmer seasons.

Bed Rooms

The cottage sleeps up to 9 people in 2 Double Bedrooms, 1 Twin Bedroom and an attic with three single beds. There is also a cot provided for our guests to use on request.

Bedding and towels, including duvets and blankets is supplied FREE with all stays in the cottage of at least 7 nights.

Note. Bedding and towels are available at a small additional charge on a per person basis for stays at the cottage of less than 7 nights.

The Kitchen

Half Moon House Holiday Cottage boasts a newly refurbished kitchen that is equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, oven, sink, cupboards, knives and forks, plates and other utensils for cooking.

The kitchen also contains a modern dishwasher and there there should be a supply of tablets for this appliance in the unit under the sink.

You will also find washing up liquid and cleaning items, along with a dust pan and brush here.

Heating

The holiday cottage has night storage heaters, which are turned up high in tthe winter months to keep you toasty and warm. The heating controls are simple to master, with instructions clearly indicated on the various dials. As a precautionary advice, please do not leave anything touching or placed on the heaters as this may cause a fire.

Garden Area

You can get outside to the garden area from the lounge or from the twin bedroom on the first floor. Both the doors are locked (the keys are on the spare set we keep in one of the small drawers in the kitchen)

Car Parking

There is a private car port which can be accessed from the back lane which comes from Langholme Drive behind the main High Row.

The Lounge

The spacious lounge boasts the following appliances and facilities: -

Coal Fire: The cottage boasts an open hearth and guests are welcome to make fires. In the winter there will usually be an initial supply of logs, along with some kindling and firelighters in the log basket (matches are on the ledge on the left hand side of the fireplace). If required, additional logs/coal can be bought at most of the shops, and at the garage on the Arkengarthdale Road.

Music System: We have a sound system which is fairly-easy to use and you will find a small collection of CDs to use. Vistors are encouraged to bring their own CD collection with them for maximum enjoyability!

Television: Our main televition in the lounge is licensed to receive all of the usual terrestrial channels and there are several television on the upper floors of the house with video players.

Under the stair cupboard: Here you will find the ironing board and one of the two vacuum cleaners (the iron is under the kitchen sink). There is also a small Christmas tree should you require it!

Electricty Meters and Fuses etc.

On the Stairs just part way up the stairs is the cupboard which houses the electricity meters and fuses…just next to the cupboard( to the right) are the switches for the emersion heater and the showers. The Shower switches are generally left on so you should not need to touch them, but we would be grateful if you could turn the emersion heater switch off before you leave.
